Cholla Wood (6" Branches)
Cholla wood is a nutritious, aesthetic softwood for isopod cultures and bioactive terrariums. This porous cactus wood forms naturally forms a biofilm and readily breaks down in the humid conditions of a terrarium* or isopod culture - steadily releasing nutrients for your isopods and springtails to feed on.
Size - 6 inches long, 3/4" to 1-1/4" diameter.
*Recommended for setups with established cleanup crews only. Bioactive bugs are necessary to ensure that mold growth becomes part of your terrarium's nutrient cycle and not a nuisance.

Cholla wood in isopod cultures
These organic, pesticide-free cholla wood chunks can be added straight in.
I'd avoid misting the cholla wood directly where possible to avoid encouraging mold growth. Keep that as the dryer area where they can explore.
Cholla wood in terrariums?
Due to its porous structure, cholla wood can absorb more moisture in humid terrariums with low airflow, making it more prone to mold than hardwoods.
That's why we recommend cholla for bioactive terrariums with cleanup crews - so they can keep on top of any mold outbreaks.
